El Raccoon

El Raccoon are a four piece alternative rock band from Southampton, formed in late 2006. The band consists of Harry Burgess (lead vocals, guitar), Charlie Brinkley (guitar), Nathan Griffiths (bass guitar) and Robert Searl (drums, vocals). The band?s sound is comparable to that of their main influences. These include Queens of the Stone Age, Radiohead, Nirvana, Pixies, Jeff Buckley and Public Enemy. In the past year, the band has developed a heavier, richer sound which effectively transcends the indie and alternative rock genres. Despite their young ages (averaging 18), the band have managed to form an impressive following in their local area. The band has played in front of sold out audiences at local venues on several occasions. This has led to notable gig opportunities, supporting likes of Nine Black Alps at The Wedgewood Rooms (Nov 09) and Underground Heroes at The Joiners (Oct 09). At the end of 2008, the band completed successful 10 date UK Tour. The band covered major cities between London and Edinburgh. After finishing the tour, the band reduced the number of live shows they were playing and focused on writing new material. In August 09, El Raccoon released their self titled debut EP. The EP was self funded and features five tracks which the band had been working on earlier in the year. Initially, 200 physical copies of the EP were pressed and are now sold out. The EP was also made available for download on iTunes. Throughout the rest of 2009, El Raccoon are continuing to play shows across the south and write new material for another release at the start of 2010.
